Manages bakery operations to achieve the most efficient, cost effective, high quality production possible.  Responsible for overall production activities.  Determines goods and raw materials to order and ensures efficient production of sufficient product quantities to keep pace with market demand and needs of the sales force. Manages production processes workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. Ensures that employees adhere to Plant and government regulations with emphasis on safety, sanitation, and quality.



  • Thorough knowledge of bakery manufacturing methodology to include product scheduling, bakery process technology, root cause analysis, benchmarking, work organization and efficiency, GMP practices, sanitation safety, HACCP and hygiene practices.
  • Design and implement improvements in work group organization and manufacturing process methodology.
  • Management and implementation of HACCP program.
  • Develop and carry out cost control procedures.
  • Coordinate with food technologist in new product development projects for successful launches.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
  • Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities. Provides supervision to exempt employees and/or non-exempt employees.
  • Serve as a technical baking resource for new and existing product lines.
  • Writing and maintenance of all production processes and procedures.
  • Thorough operational and safety knowledge of all equipment used in pastry production and packaging.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing on employee issues, production process instruction, employee reviews and client interactions.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Analyses and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work issues.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Confers with supervisors and other managers to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Works to maintain and improve on the quality, legality and safety of each product and the processes used in their manufacture.  Responsible for keeping assigned work area clean and tidy at all times and reporting any potential contamination and suspicious activity immediately.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or combination of college and equivalent experience
  • 3 - 5 years manufacturing experience including supervisory experience
  • Excellent leadership, communications and team building skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Computer literate with proficiency in spreadsheet, Word and SAP inventory applications



Directly supervises employees in the Production department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring and training employees; time and attendance record keeping (ADP/e-time), planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving concerns.
