Position Purpose

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of the bakery equipment. Maintaining open and reliable communication with co-workers on the safety and operating status of all equipment operations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, test and troubleshoot all production lines prior to start-up in a timely manner.
  • Promote and adhere to safe work practices in the bakery i.e. lock-out procedure.s
  • Work in accordance with company policies, departmental procedures, good manufacturing practices, and workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Carry out duties as specified by Maintenance Manager and Supervisor.
  • Timely and accurate completion of all paper work on repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Repair production equipment in a timely manner, using blueprints and manuals.
  • Carry out minor building maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with other departments and assist in continuous equipment improvement.
  • Problems solve, analyze and identify waste areas and recommend solutions.
  • Install new equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
  • Carry out equipment modifications to improve product quality and reduce downtime.
  • Report any concerns and/or problems to supervisor.
  • Adhere to GMP’s and Health and safety rules as outlined in employee handbook.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to Supervisor immediately.
  • Use all prescribed personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure GMP’s and safe food handling practices are being followed.
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual .
  • All tools to be cleaned and maintained in good repair. Report any broken, damaged, or missing tools to your supervisor. Do not discard any damaged or broken tools.
  • Follow all GMPs including maintaining personal hygiene, handwashing/sanitizing hands, clean up spills (ie: ingredients, water, debris and wood).
  • Report any foreign material findings to your supervisor.
  • As part of food security, report any unusual people or behaviours to your supervisor.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Good understanding and application of English oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to understand the scheduling process, quality training and safety policies and procedures after training completion
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential
  • Good analytical skills – finds solutions quickly
  • High sense of accountability
  • Understand 3 phase motor controls
  • Can read and or wirte PLC programs
  • Can program VFDs
  • Install electrical equipment based on Canadian Electrical Code
  • Understand and troubleshoot ciruit boards
  • Understanding of Robots and Ultra Sonic Cutting equipment
  • Takes pride in their work

 Required

  • Red Seal Certified Journeyman Electrican with a minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Certified in WHMIS/MSDS program
  • Proven experience with SAP software

Preferred

  • SAP knowledge with SRM, ECC and Ariba Environments.
  • Food Manufactuing experience an asset
